Director Errol Morris'
TABLOID
Opens on July 15, 2011
On behalf of Sundance Selects TABLOID, the wildly entertaining and masterful new documentary by Oscar®-winning director Errol Morris (THE FOG OF WAR, FAST, CHEAP & OUT OF CONTROL, STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE).
Since premiering at the 2010 Telluride Film Festival, the film screened at the Toronto Film Festival, where it topped indieWIRE’s critics’ poll as the Best Documentary of the festival, as well as the inaugural DOC NYC. TABLOID will open theatrically on July 15.
Thirty years before the antics of Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears were regular gossip fodder, Miss Wyoming Joyce McKinney made her mark as a tabloid darling ne plus ultra. Morris follows the salacious adventures of this beauty queen with an IQ of 168 whose single-minded devotion to the man of her dreams leads her across the globe, into jail, and onto the front page.
Joyce’s labyrinthine crusade for love takes her through a surreal world of kidnapping, manacled Mormons, risqué photography, magic underwear, and celestial sex—until her dream is finally realized in a cloning laboratory in Seoul, South Korea.
By turns funny, strange, and disturbing, TABLOID is a vivid portrayal of a phenomenally driven woman whose romantic obsessions and delusions catapult her over the edge into scandal sheet notoriety and an unimaginable life.
87 mins. A Sundance Selects release. Rated R.

Alexander Olch’s
THE WINDMILL MOVIE
NOW ON DVD!
Richard P. Rogers (1943-2001) was a NYC baby boomer, born to privilege: a Harvard-educated WASP who became a first-rate independent filmmaker (QUARRY and ELEPHANTS both opened in the ’70s) and a gifted film teacher.
But he was also a tortured, neurotic soul who freely admitted to being jealous of Steven Spielberg and simultaneously ashamed of the impulse. Torn between narrow class loyalties and broader professional goals and political values, Rogers found the time to juggle multiple relationships with the skill of a world-class Lothario, but was unable to complete an autobiographical film he had worked on for 25 years.
His former student Alexander Olch collages a trove of material, including extraordinary scenes of Rogers’s mink-coated Gorgon-mom, and fictional sequences with Wallace Shawn as Dick.
THE WINDMILL MOVIE brings together one man’s parentage, culture, education, and ambition.
Special features include:
• Two previously unreleased Richard Rogers shorts: “Elephants: Fragments of an Argument” and “226-1960 (aka The Answering Kachine Kovie)”
• Original essay by Film Comment Contributing Editor Scott Foundas

On Demand Weekly REPORT
Jerry Weintraub Tells It HIS WAY - HBO On Demand
04/08/11_On Demand Weekly provides new movie reviews of hot movies on demand from the POV of watching from the comfort of your home. Today’s review: HIS WAY (HBO) _From the Bronx to Beverly Hills, A Thoroughly Enjoyable Ride_]By Adam Schartoff_
Jerry Weintraub is on a blitz. First there’s the HBO special, an HBO Documentary Films production called HIS WAY. In addition to the infamous producer/promoter Weintraub himself, also appearing is a stellar constellation of stars including Matt Damon, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Bruce Willis, former White House denizens George & Barbara
Bush among others... all gushing about their friend.
Directed by Douglas McGrath, the HIS WAY also includes interviews with the two loves of his life, wife and former singing sensation Jane Morgan, as well as his girlfriend, Susie Ekens. The two women, both of whom have accepted the unorthodox love triangle, also spend significant screen time gushing about their man Jerry.
In fact, nobody has anything bad to say about Jerry Weintraub.
There is also the book, _When I Stop Talking, You’ll Know I’m Dead_, a memoir written with Rich Cohen, and for all intents and purposes follows the same exact formula as the HBO documentary. Both entities include a series of funny, easily digestible anecdotes about Jerry’s rise to the top.

A&E INDIEFILMS INVESTS IN AND ACQUIRES TELEVISION RIGHTS TO
SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL ENTRY:
“CORMAN’S WORLD: EXPLOITS OF A HOLLYWOOD REBEL”
Film has its World Premiere Friday as part of the Park City at Midnight Section
of the Sundance Film Festival
New York, NY (January 17, 2011) – Television rights to the upcoming Sundance premiere: CORMAN’S WORLD: EXPLOITS OF A HOLLYWOOD REBEL have been picked up ahead of its Sundance premiere by A&E INDIEFILMS as part of an investment in the project. The film marks the directorial debut of Alex Stapleton and chronicles the incredible career and massive Hollywood influence of legendary director and producer, Roger Corman. Corman will be in Park City for the world premiere of the film this Friday, January 21, 2011.
The film also features bold-faced “Cormanites” such as Jack Nicholson, Ron Howard, Jonathan Demme, Martin Scorsese, and many others. The film was produced and financed by Far Hills Pictures’ Stone Douglass and Taylor Materne. Stapleton, Izabela Frank, Mickey Barold, and Jeff Frey also served as producers on the project.
CORMAN’S WORLD: EXPLOITS OF A HOLLYWOOD REBEL tracks the triumphant rise of the true “godfather” of independent filmmaking, Roger Corman. The single most prolific writer-director-producer, Corman financed hundreds of profitable low-budget films and helped launch the careers of Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, James Cameron, and many more.
With archival footage of American culture and countercultures from the 1950’s to present day, and dynamic interviews with alumni of Corman’s cutthroat school of filmmaking, Corman’s World takes us back to the days when Corman was King.
The film also shows the rise of the recent Corman renaissance featuring Indiewood’s new school of filmmakers - including Quentin Tarantino, Paul W.S. Anderson and Eli Roth. And of course it follows Roger himself as he successfully continues to produce and distribute films outside the studio system the Corman way: fast, cheap and out-of-this-world!
CORMAN’S WORLD: EXPLOITS OF A HOLLYWOOD REBEL marks the third major film coming out of Douglass and Materne’s Far Hills Pictures. Company, which formed in August 2009, also produced the Magnolia Pictures release BARRY MUNDAY, and Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed doc A LETTER TO ELIA. Of the acquisition Douglass says, "A&E IndieFilms and Molly Thompson have an amazing history of distributing the highest quality documentaries. They are the ideal partner for a film that celebrates the birth of independent filmmaking and its godfather, Roger." Far Hills is repped by WME Global.
The deal for CORMAN’S WORLD: EXPLOITS OF A HOLLYWOOD REBEL was negotiated by Molly Thompson, VP of A&E IndieFIlms, with WME Global on behalf of Far Hills Pictures. Of the deal, Bob DeBitetto, President and General Manager of A&E Network and BIO Channel says, “Corman’s World is the preeminent retrospective of the life and career of one of Hollywood’s most prolific and influential filmmakers and we are pleased to partner with Stone Douglass and Taylor Materne to bring Alex Stapleton’s film to audiences around the world.” WME GLOBAL represents the film’s remaining available rights.
Pic was executive produced by Jared Moshe, Rich Lim, Joshua Ray Levin, Polly Platt and Antonio Von Hildebrand. Executive producers for A&E IndieFIlms are Bob DeBitetto, Robert Sharenow, and Molly Thompson.

SMASH HIS CAMERA Opens in NYC on July 30, 2010!
SMASH HIS CAMERA
Opens on Friday, July 30 at Cinema Village
SMASH HIS CAMERA, the story of controversial superstar paparazzo Ron Galella. Oscar-winning documentarian Leon Gast (WHEN WE WERE KINGS) won the Best Director prize at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival for this sparkling portrait, which reveals a man as fascinating as any of his famous subjects.
SMASH HIS CAMERA will open in New York on Friday, July 30 at Cinema Village, with a national roll-out to follow.
Jackie Onassis sued him. Marlon Brando broke his jaw. To the celebrities he pursued, legendary paparazzo Ron Galella was the enemy, but he created some of the most lasting, iconic photographs of the modern era. Over the course of a career marked by perseverance, Galella has been praised and vilified for his pioneering work in hit-and-run celebrity photography.
Taking its name from an order Onassis issued to her security team, SMASH HIS CAMERA chronicles Galella’s meteoric career as a notorious guerrilla photographer and offers a thoughtful examination of the nature of fame, the relationship between celebrities and their chroniclers, and the delicate balance between privacy and freedom of the press over the past 30 years.
Galella revisits old haunts and shares war stories about Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Brigitte Bardot, Robert Redford and other superstars who tried and failed to escape his lens. He proudly recalls the night Marlon Brando knocked out five of his teeth in one punch.
But no other subject caught his imagination like former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. From 1967 until her death in 1994, Galella pursued her so relentlessly that she instructed her Secret Service detail to prevent him from photographing her and her children.
In 1973, Galella filed a harassment suit against Onassis, alleging she was preventing him from doing his job. Onassis filed a countersuit and the epic legal battle that followed inspired a debate over the privacy of public figures that reverberates to this day.
SMASH HIS CAMERA is the story of an endlessly contradictory American original who still jumps barriers to get that exclusive photo at age 79. Whether he is simply “the price tag of the First Amendment” or a serious photojournalist, Ron Galella is a larger-than-life figure.
90 mins. A Magnolia Pictures release. Unrated.
