Senior Citizen Cinema (one more reason to embrace euthanasia?)
Editorial comment
Senior Citizen Cinema
Euthanasia, either painlessly putting to death or failing to prevent death from natural causes in cases of terminal illness or irreversible coma. The term comes from the Greek expression for good death.
The toughest filmmaking out in the world is Senior Citizen-based storytelling. Why? Well, if you write the script for a certain actor they may have died before the financing comes through.
And that goes double for your intended audience. The ones that are old enough to appreciate octogenarian romance, comedy, drama etc. may not be able to get to the theater due to illness, disability, senility, or death.
Sure, you might get some younger baby-boomers to turn out opening weekend, but forget the teens & tweens completely (the two demo's that fuel the Hollywood market).
Should these films be put to sleep? Is there a platform that can sustain them? Does anybody under 55 fricking care?
When you answer the questions, wake me up, I'll be in my hyperbaric chamber ...
